This study aims to describe the implementation of an Islamic song repetition strategy and examine changes in children's behavior as indicators of religious character development in early childhood education.
This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR), consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages conducted over two cycles, with three meetings in each cycle. The research was conducted from May to June 2026 at TK Yahdina, Mandailing Natal Regency, involving 20 children in Group B. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews, documentation, and assessment sheets. The intervention integrated explanations of song meanings, teacher modeling, structured repetition, visual media, physical movements, and positive reinforcement.
The findings revealed a progressive improvement in children's religious character development throughout the intervention. Classical learning mastery, based on the Developing as Expected (BSH) and Developing Very Well (BSB) categories, increased from 5% in the pre-cycle to 85% in Cycle I and reached 100% in Cycle II. By the end of Cycle II, eight children (40%) achieved the BSH category, while twelve children (60%) reached the BSB category.
The findings indicate positive changes in children's religious character indicators during the implementation of the Islamic song repetition strategy. However, these improvements cannot be attributed exclusively to song repetition, as the intervention incorporated multiple instructional components. The findings should be interpreted within the context of a single classroom with established religious routines and supported by observational and reflective evidence.
